yet another problem with _extra [message #10028]

I noticed that in some instances the keywords stored in _extra are
alphabetically sorted.

This is inconvenient if the order of keywords is important (I was
planning to use a routine recursively, and apply one keyword at a time).

Does anyone knows of a workaround?
