Hello there,
we have at our site two licenses for IDL 4.0, a node locked one on a Sun with
SunOS 4.1.x, and a floating one. The floating one is currently used *only*
from some Alphas, but its license manager runs on another Sun with SunOS 4.1.x
(this is for historical reasons, since the license file contains the hostid,
and does not cause great nuisance).
Now we are going to migrate our Suns from SunOS to Solaris 2.x.
We are not interested in upgrading IDL 4 to IDL 5 (and therefore we have not
subscribed a maintenance contract).
Can we just install the Solaris executables (in particolar the license
manager) from the IDL 4 CD (which dates end 1995) on our Suns and go on with
the old licenses ?
And spare the $$ of a support contract ?
