I can't supply a ftp site at the moment, but I do already have the
files on our WWW server. For the time being, you can get the files
from
http://www.mpae.gwdg.de/mpae_RZ/software/idl/
In the Emacs section you will find the original and a patched
version of idl.el (1.38 and "1.39") as well as the Jul 97 patched
version of idl-shell.el (patches for IDL 5.0 by Chris Chase and
David Feynes). Unfortunately, the original, unpatched version of
idl-shell is not there.
With GNU Emacs 20.2, I have noticed that the IDL mode in Emacs
refuses to font-lock (=colorize) the text and also gives an error
message about not being able to support Imenu if (and only if?)
the Emacs C-mode has loaded in any other buffer. Quite annoying
if you are a C programmer as well as IDL programmer. I have never
programmed any lisp except my .emacs initialization file, so I
haven't been able to look into the problem.
Best regards
Kevin
