There are several ways to handle this. The way I deal with it is as
follows:

device,/color,bits=8,xsize=,ysize=...
tv,true=3,[[[red_gun]],[[green_gun]],[[blue_gun]]]


This creates an NxMx3 array, then displays it in true-color format
using the 3rd index as the "R,G,B" index.
