Been thinking about this all afternoon and having NOT found a solution
that i am happy with at all i have decided to just ask other peoples
opinions basically to find out if i am on to a dead looser of an idea!
I have a colour image ( a map of various sea ice types, cloud types
and land) and it turns out that most of the shipping users still use fax
machines so i need to turn a (quit complex) image into black and white.
I am thinking of turning each colour "layer" into seperate vectors
(can't find anything IDL to do this tho) and just POLYFILL with a
defined pattern. I can do the latter but it is the former (time and
processing
wise) which may make this hardly worth the effort.
My data is quite complex looking (already done some operations to
create more homogeneous looking areas) and i am just wondering
whether i should forget the the whole thing (one suggestion was make them
all light (as in pale) colours and some one can hand write over the
output in black pen and fax it off!!)
Any advice, suggestions etc. would be most welcome.
