Dear all,
Going from IDL 4.0.1 to IDL 5.0.2 on SGI, MAP_SET seems to have gotten a
bug. Try
map_set,0,-90,40,/continents,/grid
-In IDL 5.0.2 you get an ordinary lat-lon map, which has afterwards been
rotated by 40 deg. So IDL5 does not give a rotated lat-lon plot at all
--any cylindrical map projection should end up with a rectangular map.
What you want, and get in IDL4, is a (rectangular) map with the south
pole at (0,-50), i.e. with the 0 longitude still vertical.
Now, am I right, or am I misunderstanding some change in the new version
? Or is this already well known? I guess that I should wait for your
comments before I issue a formal bug report.
Greetins, Ole BC
