I hate to be one of those types that always says "but Matlab can
do that..." but this one I couldn't resist (sorry David; at
least I didn't do it in your class). Check out:

We in the IDL ghetto can only read it and weep (didn't RSI
say that they would provide parallel capabilities, or even just
threads, when hell froze over) It shouldn't be too long before
people running MultiMatlab on Beowulf machines makes all of us
IDL programmers mucho obsolete...

Oh, no. And I just signed up to write an Image Processing
with IDL book to take on the MatLab folks! If they can do
image processing on 10 processors all at once, maybe they
*will* be faster than IDL. :-)
