One of my clients recently installed IDL Student Version (5.0, I think)
on a pentium running Red Hat Linux 2.1

The installation succeeds, but when we try the command "sidlde" to
launch IDL, the result is 31 copies of the error line

/usr/local/rsi/idl_5sv/bin/bin.linux/sidlde: can't resolve symbol '__assert_fail
'

Has anyone seen this problem before, or can anyone tell me how to fix
