Hi and thankyou for reading this message.
We are running IDLDE 5.0 on a IBM ThinkPad 760E with 104MB RAM with the OS
Solaris 2.5.1 x86 and have the following problem.
When allocating a huge datablock (e.g. 100MB) in IDL e.g. by the command
"a = bytarr[10000, 10000]"
CDE suddenly disappears (just everything goes black, except the IDL window).
And everything is dead. IDL is still working, though and obviously the 100MB
are
allocated properly. Then I logged in remotely and shut the system down.
After that I cannot boot anymore (it hangs on the bluescreen with the
message
"primary boot ..." on the top.
Could it be possible that IDL's memory management causes to swap everything
(inclusive CDE)? And why is the boot sector damaged afterwards?
Does anybody have the same problem?
Thanks
