reading tiff files containing more than one image [message #11407]

Can someone tell me how to read multiple images from a single TIFF file
(hopefully there is a .pro file out there somewhere that already does this),
or where I can go to learn how TIFF works so I can write the reader myself?

For full documentation on TIFF file format have a look at the following http.
http://www.dcs.ed.ac.uk/~mxr/gfx/2d/TIFF-5.txt
Also if you look at the read_tiff program. (or tiff_read), in the IDL source
library you'll find this a good start as most of the taggs are explained.
