I can only say "Amen!" to this. Despite the tone of my earlier
rant, I am no Luddite. I *like* the new features of IDL and,
truthfully, I have a professional interest in having RSI
introduce as many new and confusing features as possible.
I'm just frustrated sometimes by the large number of people
who struggle with simple tasks in IDL. In addition to more
new features, let's make IDL accessible to all the rest of us
who struggle so hard to learn the basics.

Cheers,

David

P.S. I've had the opportunity this week to see object
graphics programs running on great hardware. My opinion
on the utility of writing object graphics programs
is evolving. The future may be here sooner than I had
previously thought. :-)
