I tried the example given in the help file (including fixing the
typo re. argument order in constrained_min call in the
example) for constrained_min and it crashes IDL (5.1) under
NT 4.0. Anybody had any better luck ? This is a real
dissapointment as I thought we actually got a real constrained
fit routine with this release; oh well...

The example will work if you set nobj to 3 rather than -4.
However, the solver seems to be rather slow and inaccurate.
There are alternatives in PD.
