Hi All,
I'm familiar with PVWAVE but am currently working with IDL
(RSI Interactive Data Language) I read the comp.lang.idl-pvwave newsgroup
regularly. The number of new messages per day is reasonable, less than 10 on
average. (I use deja news to read messages) The address is a little awkward
but once I got used to the dash between idl-pvwave, it was no problem. I
do not see a need to change it now, nor do I feel it necessary to separate out
the PV-Wave users. The comp.lang.idl newsgroup looks like it has had some
mail from IDL/PVWAVE users, so there is some confusion. But
I think with a little searching, the relevent newsgroup can be found.

The problem is that IDL has a slightly more common translation to
Interface Definition Language and comp.lang.idl is taken by those
folks. We could always start a group under the alt... hierarchy, but
I doubt there is neither the need nor motivation to moderate or
close this group down.

On the one hand, if they don't have enough use to warrant their own news group,
they shouldn't have their own news group. On the other hand, if the volume is
so low, does it really get in the way of IDL users? On the third hand (I grew
up near three mile island :-), if we rename it to comp.lang.idl and have the
charter "allow" pvwave questions, it will make it more "logical" for those of
us who use IDL but not pvwave without totally disenfranchizing the pvwave
users.
On balance, as an IDL user who can barely spell pvwave, I'd vote to change the
name, but let them stay.
