Hi everybody,
I consider buying the IDL 5 student's license, but I'm not sure which
one
to take, Windows or Linux. Personally, I'd prefer Linux, but I remember
that it was quite a hassle to change the license key on a linux machine.
We installed one of the first linux versions at the time when only
node-locked
licenses were available for Linux, and I found it quite annoying to call
up CreaSo
(the german distributor) every time we changed any hardware (I think
they
hard-coded the Ethernet adress in the license key.)
Are there already people out there who have bought a student's license
and
could help me with their experience? I am also interested in the way the
software is packaged, i.e. are all windows versions on one CD or even
all
of them on one CD, including Linux? The latter would be most
convenient,
of course, and to my mind shouldn't violate license terms on a dual boot
machine that can only do one OS at a time.
Any help is greatly appreciated
Martin
