hmmm, obviously 300 MHz are just too fast for FONTS, they'll have to be
changed to FNS to run fast enough ;-)

We have the same problem with a new 300 MHz Windows NT machine. I don't think
the problem has anything to do with IDL. I can leave the machine doing nothing
overnight (just login screen and screensaver) and in the morning the fonts are
screwed up. I am leaning toward the video hardware/driver as the problem.

I've been using IDL 5.1 pretty extensively on a Windows NT
machine and have not see this problem at all.
