Matt,

I just checked my code and don't have any call_externals in it.
Do you think that it's a call_external in one of IDLs routines?

Shane,

I have seen 'access violation' errors when an idl routine that uses
call_external screws up. Your error message is issued when the
call_external'ed routine writes more data back to the idl environment
than the calling routine allocated.

Hope this helps.
