Map coordinates to Lon/Lat [message #12859] Thu, 17 September 1998 00:00

Two questions about map projection conversions:

If I have a single coordinate in, say UTM coordinates, and a zone number, how
do I get the corresponding lon/lat coordinate for that point?

For the same above, what if the projection is Lambert conformal conic? (I
think that I need to have the parallels, lon of central meridian, lat of
origin of projection, false easting at central meridian, and false northing
at origin)

I'm hoping that there is an easy way in IDL to perform this. Or do I need to
find the algorithms myself to calculate these values? Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
