I haven't had this problem on my Windows machine, but I have
seen it from time to time on machines in some of my IDL
courses. The problem is usually quickly fixed by resizing
the window. So far I've just attributed it to cheap video
drivers, but I don't really know. Text objects are rendered
as hundreds of tiny polygons, so video is obviously going
to be critical. The problem does seem to be infrequent
and extremely intermittent.
