None of the problems you mention has anything to do with IDL. If
you're out of memory, buy more memory or get more swap space. On Suns, the
number of open files and the swap space is set in the kernel and can be
reconfigured. I know that the GENERIC_SMALL kernel is inadequate. I run
the GENERIC kernel on my SPARC 10 and I have no problems with IDL.
I know of no limit on the length of files other than the size of
the disk. If you're editing large files, then you might needmore memeory
or swap space.

"Memory is better managed under OS/2"? Why do you say that?
