I am very interested in obtaining IDL for OS/2. I currently
run IDL on windows and on a Sun. The environment for windows
is nice, but I am constantly plagued by out of memory errors,
particularly having to do with editing files. These error
include a limit on the length of text in each file, a limit
on the number of files currently open, and also there seems
to be a problem with the total number of files opened and
closed in a single session.
Memory is better managed under OS/2 so that these problems
would probably go away. Also, an OS/2 version would allow
me to run long calculations in the background.
Anyone from RSI care to comment on potential availability
of IDL for OS/2?
