Hi. I'm running IDL on Unix, on a network with a floating license. I
then run IDL using my PC which has NT while running exceed. However I've
also set up IDL for windows on my PC, which I prefer to work in because
it looks nicer. I've set up a system variable LM_LICENSE_FILE, to tell
it where to look on the network for the license and this works fine.
However I really would like to synchronise my files so that whichever
one I am on, I am using a common set of program files so that when I
update the files and then use the other version, the files are updated.
I don't want to spend half my working time using ftp! It would be
preferable really if the files were kept on the network, because that's
where all the data is.
Also would it be possible in programs that are running on windows,
to get IDL to look on the network for data. I realise that I may be
living in a dream world, but I imagine that others must have had a
similar problem.

cheers,
Phil Aldis
