I think I saw some discussion on this issue some time ago, but at the time
didn't understand what the problem was so didn't pay too much attention.

Anonymous structures in IDL are a very useful thing, but can't be nested
inside other anonymous structures. (That's what the manual says--actually I
can't include them in named structures either.) This is a significant
limitation. Is there a reason for it? A good reason?
