Hi Folks,
I just had another look at Amazon.com and my IDL Programming
Techniques book is rocketing to the top of the charts. It's
now the 394,867th most popular book on the site! (Up from
785,368th just a couple of weeks ago.)
Even better news: Amazon just ordered some books from me. :-)
But I could still use a few more book reviews. I'm thinking
that surely someone, somewhere has read the darn thing. Or
at least a couple of chapters. Enough, say, to make a
cogent comment or two. I would greatly appreciate it.

In all seriousness, I've sold far more books this
year than I thought I would and I am very, very thankful
for the people on this newsgroup who have either purchased
books or who encouraged others to purchase them. I am
also thankful for those of you who have sent me corrections
and other suggestions for improvements. Thank you all.
I'm especially thankful to the people who are courageous
enough to ask questions on this newsgroup. Books would
not get written, believe me, without you prodding us all
along. It has been my great privilege to try to answer
some of those questions and to learn from the many, many
fine folks who share both their time and expertise on this
newsgroup.
In the spirit of the Holidays (and to clear a bit of space
for the tree in the family room) I've decided to offer the
book at a 20% discount from now until the end of the year
for anyone who mentions the IDL newsgroup when they order.
