Ok, since it appears that people haven't understood David F's
hilarious term "secret decoder ring" when talking about HTML
formatted posts, I'll state it in plain text (pun intended :-)

Please do *not* post HTML formatted messages in this
newsgroup; not everyone is using a web browser to read news.
Actually, this goes for almost *all* newsgroups, unless maybe
we're talking about special newsgroups devoted to web browsers,
HTML or the like.

Just to make sure the point get's across, I've copied Andy's
post below and "destroyed" the markup commands by changing <>
to [] and "&" to "@", ensuring that people using web browsers
will see this as many others see it. Quite terrible, no?

So, my humble request is: Turn off HTML coding in your news
"browser". In Netscape (4.5) this can be done under

Edit : Preferences : Mail & Newsgroups : Formatting

Switch to use plain text formatter.

[p]Hi!
[p]This looks great...
[br]@nbsp;@nbsp; map_set, 0, 0, /cont, xmargin=[5,5], ymargin=[5,5]
[br]@nbsp;@nbsp; map_grid, /box_axes
[p]But on my system (Sun Solaris 2.6), this piece of code does not.
[br]Note the center of the map is shifted to the dateline...
[br]@nbsp;@nbsp; map_set, 0, 180, /cont, xmargin=[5,5], ymargin=[5,5]
[br]@nbsp;@nbsp; map_grid, /box_axes
[p]The longitude labels are not correct.@nbsp; How about you?
[p]Also, using /box_axes I would like to suppress labeling on the "top"
and
[br]the "righthand side" of the plot.@nbsp; Any ideas on how to do this?
[p]What is the easiest way to have negative longitudes labeled with a "W",
[br]and positive ones labeled with an "E" using /box_axes?
[p]Thanks for your help!
