Yes, as a matter of fact. I use version 3 under WINE quite often.

Oh, well, Linux. Sure. But does it run Quicken? ;-)

Cheers,

Just for the record, I'm running my IDL 4.01 since about 4 years and had
at least 3 major and many minor upgrades of my OS without any problems.
OS is Linux.

No, it won't. The story I got from RSI was that with the changes to
make everything 64-bit compatible, and do things like support really
large files, they had to go with 2.6. I posted a note a few weeks
ago about it. BTW, the Linux version requires the new glibc too.
I don't know what the reason for that is (except something like they
only have one Linux machine and it's running RedHat).

I don't know why RSI should be any different than any other
software vendor I know. Take Framemaker, Quicken, Microsoft
Word, Photoshop, or any other piece of software on this
machine. Got to have that last piece of OS software to keep
current.

How could it be otherwise!?

It's even worse when you upgrade your operating system.
(Mac OS 8.5 is my latest nightmare.) Then you have to
upgrade all your software whether you want to or not. :-(

Cheers,

David
