What you are seeing the the lowermost pixel of your image,
not a black box. :-)

This is not an uncommon problem for people just starting
out with object graphics. At least you see *something*.
Most of us see *nothing* and then we are really confused. :-)

My suggestion is to either scale your image into your
view, or enlarge your view to include your image. You can
see an example of how this is done from the XImage program
on my web page.
