XWin32 conflict [message #13979] Thu, 14 January 1999 00:00 Go to next message

When emulating a UNIX environment on a Pentium with Windows 95 using
Version 3.4.1 of XWIN-32 from StarNet Communications Corp, many of the
interactive IDL graphics such as 'idlde' cause a conflict such that the
IDL window freezes. Typing demo at the idl prompt causes the same
problem, resulting in a flat grey window that no longer responds to key
presses. Other IDL functions work fine, such as plotting and using the
interactive help environment. print, !d.n_colors responds 235 colors,
so I don't think it is being limited by the number of colors. Does
anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thank you,

Randall

... since I am not sure that Randall is familiar with netiquette yet:
Thanks Liam and Eddie! We tried out the demo version of XWin 4.1 and it
worked OK.

Martin.

I can't help much, but "vista eXceed" from Hummingbird works fine with
IDL X window displays onto my windows95/98/NT machines.

Good luck!

I'd try an upgrade of the XWIN-32 software. We use the current version
(4.1) daily with no problems.
