Believe it or not,

IDL 5.2 works pretty fine for Windows98, especially after I
managed to get rid of all the nasty blue screens after upgrading
95 to 98 (i.e., delete the complete windows dir, install 98
from scratch, re-install (;-( ) all other software which cannot
resist to put something into the windows or windows/system dir
(did you know that you can save parts of the Registry and import
them again - this avoids re-installation of better software...),
and finally, install 5.2 over 5.1. Works fine - I'm a happy
IDL user even with a 133Mhz machine and 80Mb RAM. surf_track gives
good response even with more complex objects, lights,...
