This is in comment to Mike Schienle's idea for a generic IDL user's website:

Personally, I scour the net every week or two for good IDL ideas to add to or
modify my work projects with. D. Fanning's site is one of the best, of
course, and should be commended for his often unpaid support of the IDL
community. My idea for Mike is to include an email list of IDL users with
their area of expertise, such as mathematical routines, plotting, imaging,
GUI's, object graphics, IDL projects worked on, etc. In some ways, this is
as useful as a open library of IDL subroutines, and might be easier than
scanning Dejanews. Also, as a collabration, certain subscribers such as
myself, have IDL maintenance/support and can forward *relevant* community
questions to RSI.

Good luck with the site and keep us posted.
