Hey all,

I'm totally new to this IDL thing. My postdoc sponsor insists I use it
instead of Matlab (which I can't understand, since I'm a total
Matlabophile).

Ok, so I installed the Student version 5.0 on a Power Computing Power
Center 150 running System 7.5.3L w/ 98 Mb RAM and the darn thing can't
even launch. System error type 11 then 10, then failed restart/crash or
a type 1 application quit. I tried starting up with extensions off,
same thing.

Now I'm 99% sure my system is probably incompatible, but I can't find
any documentation to this effect in the manual or on the RSINC webpage.
So much for a smooth transition.

Can someone advise me as to where to find the system requirements from
the 5.0 student version and/or how to remedy my problem?

Thanks thanks thanks,

James Kozloski
