Hi there,
I am having a problem with the HELP window on UNIX.
I installed IDL 5.2 on 2 Sun running Solaris 2.6 and my
problem is that the Help window from IDL gives on both computer a
problem, it just fires me from the X-window.
I would ask somebody running IDL on SPARC Solaris 2.6 to do the
following and tell me if the problem is on my computer or my
intallation.
Run IDL
? (to get the help window)
click on "contents"
click on "index"
Type "device"
Choose "DEVICE procedure"
on the small window, choose "Table of IDL devices"
once you have that help in the window, go to the top and click on
"Keywords Accepted by the IDL Device"
Choose ENCAPSULATED or (PS) next to ENCAPSULATED.
On 2 of the computers (different installation) I have access, after this
last choice, it just got me out of X-window and prompt me to the Login
one.
Has anybody had similar problem?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,

Andry -
I followed these steps with no problems, both on IDL 5.1 (Solaris 2.6)
and on IDL 5.2 (Solaris 2.7). It may be the combination of Solaris 2.6
and IDL 5.2.
I would suggest installing the latest Recommended Patch cluster from
Sun, as this looks like an X windows bug:

Good luck!
Dave
