Hi folks,
We just upgraded our Alpha with a 24-bit TurboChannel module. The problem
is that in IDL color will only be displayed on tv (or any plot) if that
window is highlighted, otherwise it is displayed in black and white. This
doesn't occur when using IDL on our 8-bit X-terminals. Is there some
keyword I'm missing? I tried a couple of things in the reference manual to
no avail.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

PS - we are running IDL 3.5.1 on an Alpha running OSF/1 v1.3a

Hi
We have a similar problem on a Alpha-OpenVMS.
The problem is related to the private colormaps and to the
fact that the IDL's windows do not get the focus.
To test if your problem is similar, try 'xloadct' and mouve
the mouse cursor into the small palette: the colors will appear!
(the problem does not appear with widgets!)
To see the difference between your three stations, look at the
version of MOTIF.
Hope it help.

Check out http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/~gumley/sgifaq.html,
in particular sections 5.1 and 4.2
Cheers,
