Also, I have tried replacing:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$IDL_DIR/bin/bin.$OS$OSVER$ARCH"
with
LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$IDL_DIR/bin/bin.$OS$OSVER$ARCH:/usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib/ "
in the idl script, and I get a core dump.

Any help would be great.
