I was wondering if anyone has tried the IDL for Linux under RedHat 6.0.
I'm currently running RH5.2 but would like to upgrade (get all the
latest
and greatest hardware drivers and support and all the newest security
patches). If so, are there any difficulties to be overcome, or does
it appear to run just as well as in 5.2?

I tried to install IDL 5.2 (the demo-version) on a PC with Linux
RedHat 6.0
After I ran the installation without getting any error message, I was
unable to start IDL. I got the
following message:
IDL Version 5.2 (linux x86). Research Systems, Inc.
% Unable to open validation file: /usr/local/rsi/idl_5.2/idl.genver.
No such file or directory
% Entering timed demo mode for IDL. Each session is limited to 7 minutes
of operation. Printing and file saving is disabled.
Contact your sales representative or Research Systems
(303-786-9900, info@rsinc.com) if you are interested in
evaluating a fully-functional version of this product.
For basic information, enter "IDLInfo" at the IDL> prompt.
/usr/local/rsi/idl_5.2/bin/bin.linux/idl: error in loading shared
libraries: /usr/local/rsi/idl_5.2/bin/bin.linux/libidl.so.5.0: undefined
symbol: __setfpucw
Although this is probably to be solved by the RSI support, I would be
grateful for any help.
