This is one of those 'Why doesn't the stupid thing print?' problems. I can't
get a Wave plot stored as an encapsulated Postscript file to print from
within Word.
Details:
I'm writing a report in MS Word 5.1 on a Macintosh emulator, and I want
to include some plots from PV-Wave 4.00 running on a HP750, so I set my device to
WAVE> set_plot,'ps'
WAVE> device, filename='test.eps', /Encapsulated
After generating the plot, closing the device, and opening test.eps on the Mac,
it says that its converting an EPS (encapsulated Postscript) file
and it displays a blank picture box with 'File Name: test.eps' in the corner.
This is exactly what's supposed to happen: Word keeps two versions of a graphic,
one for screen display (PICT format, I believe), and one for printing (PS format).
If the display version is missing, you get a blank picture box, but the file
should still print properly.
However, printing this document results in, you guessed it, a blank page with
'File Name: test.eps' in the corner.
Neither Wave Technical Support, nor MS Word Technical Support have been
able to fix the problem. The Wave manual entry for exporting EPS files to Word is for
an ancient version of Word, and so is not useful.
Maybe there's someone out there who's already figured this how to make this work.
I'd be grateful for any help.
