Humm. I'm severely handicapped without my favorite color
problem answer, but here's my best guess. Check those
do-hickies that go into the back of your monitor. I think
you have the red one in the green slot, or something. :-)

Seriously, I don't have a clue. I've never seen anything
like it, except on monitors that have outlived their life span.
I'm pretty sure it doesn't have anything to do with IDL,
but why don't you send us the results of HELP, /DEVICE
so we have a little more to go on.
