To All,

I am an oceanographer with the USGS Center for Coastal Geology and
Regional
Marine Studies in St. Petersburg, FL. We are involved in a cooperative
USGS-
NASA-NOAA project to survey the US coastline using airborne LIDAR in
support
of research on coastal processes (erosion, landslides, shoreline
change). Our project
is expanding, and has already mapped roughly 2/3 of the lower 48 US
coastline. Other
projects involve remote sensing studies of coral reefs and coastal
wetlands.

We seek to individuals with IDL programming experience and scientific
interests in
coastal oceanography and geology who may wish to join our remote sensing
team. Our
office has an arrangement with the Dept. of Marine Science at the
University
of South Florida in St. Petersburg, which allows for cooperative work at
the USGS towards M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Marine Science (see our
website at http://marine.
usgs.gov/)

If you would like further information on this, please contact me at the
address
