Research Systems, an Apple Premier Developer, is offering a special
time-limited program to MATLAB customers, with a specific emphasis on
Macintosh users. Beginning July 20, 1999, in conjunction with Macworld
Expo New York, MATLAB customers can trade-in their MATLAB licenses for
the current release of IDL, version 5.2.1, for $495 (regular price is
$1,895).

IDL, the Interactive Data Language, is similar to MATLAB in terms of being
a 4GL array-oriented visualization language. IDL is superior to MATLAB in
visualization quality, image processing, and application development.
This program is being offered in response to The MathWorks' decision to
freeze development of MATLAB for the Mac platform as of March, 1998.
