delete key in IDLDE (IRIX 6.3) [message #17026]

IDL users running idlde in IRIX,

This is most annoying. How do I get the delete key to act like a normal
delete key (delete characters ahead of cursor position) rather than like
the back space key which is what it now does when editing *.pro files?

I am using the C-shell (/bin/csh) with nothing changed in my .cshrc file
affecting this ( it has remained the default file so far).
