Hi everybody,
I would like to read from IDL some ECMWF data stored in GRIB format,
modify them under IDL and save the modified data back into a ECMWF data
file.
Would anybody have routines that could do that?

It doesn't get any better than wgrib:
http://wesley.wwb.noaa.gov/wgrib.html

It's a C program (not IDL), however you can call it from IDL using SPAWN
if you so desire.
