I'm assuming that you're asking about the Interactive Data Language from
Research Systems, Inc. The proper newsgroup for that is comp.lang.idl-pvwave.
The newsgroup comp.lang.idl is about something else entirely.

If I'm right, and you're asking about RSI's IDL, then what you want to use is
one of the following

CALL_PROCEDURE
CALL_FUNCTION
EXECUTE
