In case you haven't seen it, IDL 5.3 has been officially announced. Among the
most interesting new features:

*.RESET_SESSION command to eliminate the frequent restarts required by
heavy-duty programmers. Yeah!

*regular expression and glob-style matching functionality for string searches.

*ZLIB compression for reading and writing gzipped files throughout, including
SAVE's.

And more...

It seems for those Linux users that older versions are no longer supported --
RedHat 6.0 is baselined as the minimum OS (which basically means glibc>2.1 for
those non-RH Linux users out there). I confirmed this with a segfault on my
RH5.2 (glibc 2.0.7) machine. Time to upgrade.

I have since a few minutes idl5.3 installed.
The project editor is very nice but I don't found the feature to create an
executable ....

Did someone know if this editor seen on windows is given to all other platforms
too?
