ENVI and Landsat7 data on HDF format [message #18129]

Hi folks!

Embarassed to say, but I've recently received a Landasat 7 data set (Level
1G) on the HDF foramat from the EROS data center and I still haven't managed
to display the data in any way.

ENVI (3.2) was of course my first try, but the error message was "Unable to
read the specified HDF-SD slice". I've tried several freeware s/w packages
(SciSpy Browser, SDB etc.), but none of them have displayed the image for
me.

The urgent need I have is to get a reduced resolution version out of it
which is going to be used in a calendar (on tiff/gif). I now know that I
should have chosen GeoTIFF instead of HDF.

Any tips, IDL procedures????
