Thank you for the suggestion but that is not really what I was referring
to, I do know how to put text anywhere on a page.
AFAIK, What I am referring to is not visible on the pages of plots
itself but only shows up when using certain postscript viewers, I use
ghostview/ghostscript. When I view a postscript file, on the left side
of the figure is a list of page numbers, one for each page in the file.
It is possible to put words there instead of numbers such that when I
give a 24 page postscript file to a colleague, that person will see,
instead of
0
1
2 ...
something like,
Jan-Winds
Jan-Tides
Feb-Winds ...
which can be clicked on to jump directly to the given page. I have a C++
program that adds page 'titles' to my postscript files but it would be
easier if I could do it with the same program used to generate the files
in the first place.
I do not know if these 'titles' are accessible with other postscript
viewers and if the people I work with start using other viewers I may
stop this practice in the future anyway.
