license file

In addition to the new license file (which you get from RSI), I think
you need to shut down the IDL 5.0 license manager (lmgrd), and then
start the lmgrd that comes with IDL 5.3
(/usr/local/rsi/idl_5.3/bin/lmgrd).

Cheers,
Liam.

Yes, you must have a new license file from RSI to run the 5.3 version.
If you have purchased a software maintenance agreement from RSI, they
should have automatically sent you the new license file. Else, you must
buy the new version.

Thank you very much for your promt answer. I emailed my distributor but
because they didn't answer up to now, I thought that this might not be
necessary...
