Sometimes I am glad I have a Mac. Its OS is so ... robust? that writing
a virus for it is not worth the effort :-)
I use MacAfee on my PC and so far it was able to handle anything I was
able to bring in. Good luck!

Make sure your virus definition file is current. If norton gives the
virus a name, search their site for it, they're pretty good about
telling you about how to get rid of them. If norton still isn't any
help, try downloading the trial version of McAfee.
