I have the following problem, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am writing a non-linear curve fitting routine in IDL. Right now
this routine is very slow and I want to do some timing studies as I
keep modifying the routine. My question is how can I do it. I am
running IDL on a HP700 computer which runs the unix OS. (HP-UX)
IDL will let me SPAWN out and execute a unix command, or run a C program(?).
So I would like to spawn out of my IDL program just before calling
the curve fitting routine, and after exiting the routine. I am not the
only user on the HP700. I am running the program in an X environment.
Are there any unix commands that can tell me how long my routine is running.
Any help is apprecaited.
Thanks
ratty
