You know, Martin, I was thinking...

My son just found out yesterday he won a scholarship
which will allow him to spend the next year studying
in Germany, and I've been learning German in preparation
for our upcoming German trip this summer. I'll bet you
*could* find a competent programmer for 1000+. I know
my German IDL courses just got a *whole* lot more
reasonable than they were, say, the day before
yesterday. :-)

Auf Wiedersehen,

David

Uh, just so you know, it's going to take 1000++ if
you want somebody competent. Take my word for it. :-)

Cheers,

Well, you never know how these programs evolve... If I receive 1000+
orders, this might well be the future of webmaker. And in this case
I already reserved the name ;-)

I did consider this, but very briefly. You state the most important
argument (I just don't know enough perl for this), but I had other
reasons, too (they might be fake as perlians could point
out): although this is not in the current version, there are
provisions to check module dependencies which requires some knowledge
of internal IDL procedures and functions, and I thought the best
way to get hold of these is to use IDL itself.

But again: if I gain 1000+ customers, I may hire someone who will
do it much nicer in perl...

Cheers,
Martin

Impressive.

I am not placing an order, but have a suggestion. And I hate making
what may sound as a negative comment to the author after all the hard
work, because I am not trying to be negative.

So here is the comment.

Webmaker may be too generic a name. How about LibraryDocHTMLBuilder
or something like it?

Webmaker name should be reserved for a more general purpose routine that
accepts higher level constructs (title, index, sectiontitle, etc), and
converts them to HTML.

Finally, did you consider actually using Perl for this kind of a job
(I've never done anything in Perl). I can see one reason why not
to do it in Perl, and that is if you know IDL and don't know Perl (Valid
in my opinion).

Yiippee! Yeah, way to go, Martin!

Booooooo, hissss. :-(

Uh, huh. Good luck with this. Let me know. :-)

Did you check with your wife about this? This may be
a big mistake.

My check's in the mail! :-)

Cheers,

David

P.S. Nice job. I can't wait to see the source code. No
common blocks I hope for that price. :-)
