Hello,
thanks you all who replied on my summary of IDL vs WAVE vs MATLAB.
I now understand why representatives of IDL and WAVE do not reply on the list.
I regret it very much though. On the MATLAB list, most of the questions
are answered on the list, and reading those solutions may teach me how to
solve, or trigger new ideas and insights.
Last month, for instance there was a heavy debate started by a scientist
who questioned the dfft routine. The people of M* defended the program
openly, which I felt was a good thing.
May I suggest to spilt this group up into a IDL part and a WAVE part,
or has this been discussed before?
So far I have received dozens of mails where people mentioned positive
(and very few negative) aspects of any of the programs. I have written all
the pros and cons down, and discuss it with my team, with a neutral
advice from me.
Around April 19th I have received many personal replies from vendors
of IDL and PV~WAVE with some technical details about their products.
Unfortunately the printouts on the cental printer were taken away before
I could collect them, so please can you sned me this information again?
