Final Workshop Announcement
Visualization Development Environments 2000
April 27-28, 2000
Princeton, New Jersey USA

-------------------------------------------
We are happy to announce the first annual Visualization
Development Environments meeting. This workshop will be
at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (Princeton,
NJ) on Thursday April 27 and Friday April 28.
Co-organizers are Scott Klasky (sklasky@pppl.gov)
and Steve Thorpe (thorpe@ncsc.org).

Please join us in this meeting which will bring together
researchers from visualization, along with users who are
interested in learning about visualization toolkit packages.
We will focus on several visualization packages (AVS's
Express, IBM's OpenDX, The Visualization Toolkit (VTK),
NAG's IRIS Explorer, RSI's IDL, MIT's PV3, Visual Numerics'
JWAVE, and TGS's 3D Mastersuite) and have one vendor from
each present an overall view of that package. Also an
invited presentation will be made by the University of Utah's
Chris Johnson on SCIRun, a scientific problem solving environment
that allows the interactive construction, debugging and
steering of large-scale scientific computations. We will
then have user presentations on each package covering
the application(s) they built with their particular tool.
Finally, we would like to demonstrate these toolkits,
visualizing data from five different areas of science in a
"Toolkit Showdown".

Further information is available from the VDE 2000 URL

including a schedule of events, registration instructions,
directions to the workshop, lodging information, and a
link to the live web broadcast of this event. Please
feel free to email us directly if you have any
questions. Also please circulate this announcement among
your potentially interested colleagues.

Thank you and we hope to see you next week!
